2026 - 2027 Renner PTA Board & Chairs Interest Form

Thank you for your interest in serving as a member of the Renner PTA Executive Board.  We are always looking for volunteers to help with the many activities and programs our PTA provides to the students, staff and families of the Renner Middle School community.  

 

Duties of the Officers, Standing Committee Chairs, and Special Committee Chairs on the Executive Board can be found in the Renner PTA Bylaws and Standing Rules.  According to our PTA Bylaws, a current board member may hold the same position for no more than two consecutive years.  All positions on the Renner PTA board include two components – the task of the actual position and participation as part of the leadership team assisting with our PTA’s initiatives. Board meetings and regular membership meetings are usually held on Mondays.

 

The names of those interested in serving as an Officer will be forwarded to the Nominating Committee.  After the Renner PTA officer positions are elected in March, all other Board & Chair positions will be appointed by the president-elect with approval of the newly elected officers. Names and contact information for volunteers who have expressed an interest in these appointed positions will be provided to the president-elect for consideration following the election.

EXECUTIVE BOARD OFFICERS

These positions will be elected by the membership at our Renner General PTA Meeting in March.  Parliamentarian position will be appointed by the elected Officers following the elections.

Please don't limit your selections.  Some positions may have only served one term, but could possibly open up if people wish to change their position from the previous year.


President
Coordinates the work of the officers and committee chairmen. Preside at all meetings of the association, and represent the local unit as a delegate to council, State and National PTA.


1st VP - Programs
Act as aid to the President. Plan Programs schedule for the year including Principal’s Coffees, Parent Educational nights / lunches, etc. Assist Board positions reporting up to Programs.


2nd VP - Volunteers
Organizes and coordinates all volunteer programs and/or activities. Maintains record of all volunteer hours. Assist Board Positions reporting up through Volunteers.


3rd VP - Ways & Means
Organizes and coordinates all fundraising activities and develops fundraising strategy. Assists Positions reporting up through Programs.


4th VP - Membership
Responsible for promoting membership in PTA as well as completing and issuing membership cards. Supports Directory chairman and chairs committee to select PTA life members.


Secretary
Records minutes of all meeting, notifies board members of upcoming meetings, keeps attendance records and maintains PTA office supplies.


Treasurer
Acts as custodian of all PTA funds, maintains all bank records and presents financial statements, prepares tax return for year served. Also serves as Chairman of budget committee.


Parliamentarian
Coordinates yearly bylaws review committee and nominating committee and attends all PTA meetings. This position is appointed by the President with approval of the Officers.


STANDING COMMITTEE CHAIRS

These positions are voting members of the Renner PTA Executive Board.  These chairs will be selected following the election of Renner PTA Officers in March.

Arts in Education
Responsible for the publicity, promotion and participation in the National PTA’s Reflection program.


Cultural Fusion
Promotes cultural inclusiveness among the Renner students, communicates cultural events in the community in the Renner Round UP publication & on website.


Environmental
Responsible for promotion and participation in environmental awareness programs including PTA’s EPA poster contest.


Hospitality/Newcomers
Coordinates a hospitality committee. Responsible for Back to School coffee, Renner family social activities, Newcomers’ coffees, PTA Winter and End of Year luncheons. Maintains hospitality supplies.


Legislative
Attend meetings of the Plano ISD Board of Trustees and report to executive board. Keeps aware of the Legislative actions of the Texas and National PTA.


Newsletter
Procures news information/articles to develop and publish the Renner Round Up.


SAGE (Special & Gifted Education)
Acts as liaison between parents with gifted and special needs children and the PTA. Promote awareness of community events and programs for the families at Renner.


School Supplies/Pre-Paks
Work with the staff and the school supplies chairman to identify supplies needed by the students. Coordinate the ordering, packaging and pricing of PrePaks and individual supplies to be sold at Schedule PickUp.


Science Fair
Work with Renner Staff member responsible for school Science Fair and enlist any volunteers that may be needed.


Teacher Appreciation
Plan and organize faculty/staff appreciation activities. Staff in-service luncheon, winter luncheon and Teacher Appreciation Week activities.


SPECIAL COMMITTEE CHAIRS

These positions are non-voting members of the Renner PTA Executive Board.  These chairs will be selected following the election of Renner PTA Officers in March.

Birthday Cakes
Coordinate ordering and delivery of cakes to recognize faculty birthdays.


Book Fair
Schedule, promote and manage the book fair held in the spring and coordinate volunteers to work at it.


Care
Send greeting cards (congratulations, sympathy) or memorials to faculty/staff.


Casseroles
Coordinate store purchased casseroles for staff during teacher appreciation week.


Community Outreach
Responsible for planning, maintaining and publicizing collections from Renner students for community projects. Works with Plano Council of PTAs to determine projects that Renner can help with. Works with Counselor’s for the Families In Need Fund.


Library Volunteers
Responsible for scheduling volunteers to assist in the Library as needed.


Office & Copy Volunteers
Responsible for scheduling volunteers for the copy room, main office and counselor’s office.


PTA Website & Social Media
Develop and maintain PTA website with pertinent and current school year information. Send out eNews. Update Renner PTA Facebook page.


Partnerships
Develop and maintain PTA contacts with potential partnership organizations and secure donations for designated events.


Spirit Wear
Select, sell and distribute all custom spirit wear. Serve as backup for Electives spirit wear.


Student Events (formerly Socials)
Coordinates two school sponsored student socials, one per semester. Work with school personnel in implementing 8th grade end of year event.


Teacher Treats
Coordinates volunteers to provide teacher treats at the end of each six weeks grading period and sets up in teacher lounge.


Yard Signs/Decals
Work with school personnel in coordinating the sale and distribution of activity related yard signs and vehicle decals.


Watch D.O.G.S
Responsible for Watch D.O.G.S. program coordination, which consists of adults who are willing to provide in school support to the principal, staff, and teachers during the school year.
