That's right! What better way to celebrate Halloween than to Clean-o-ween with family or friends??  Totally socially-distance-able...

Litter cleanups are always thrilling, but Trash or Treat on Halloween is something to howl about!  This is the Great American Cleanup in disguise with some changes:

  • Each cleanup site is limited to 10 people.
  • Cleanups will only happen at pre-determined locations so you cannot pick your own site (like campus).
  • Event is limited to a maximum of 500 people so sign up early.
  • Supply drop-off and reverse parade featuring City departments will take place at Windhaven Meadows Park following cleanups.
  • Registration opens Monday, September 21.
  • Help make Plano boo-tiful!

AYSI Science Fair Academy

Hello Renner families and students. We have an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in Science Fair or for anyone who wishes to pursue STEM as a career.

AYSI (the Association of Young Scientists and Innovators) is an organization led by students at Plano West Senior High, and they’ve initiated a virtual Science Fair Academy for students like you!

AYSI’s Academy provides the following services:

  • Live lectures over Zoom discussing science fair tips and tricks
  • Virtual mentorship with high-schoolers with a history of science fair success
  • Virtual mentorship with seasoned undergraduates and professors at prestigious universities
  • Mock fairs, internships, and more!

The Science Fair Academy will give you world-class exposure to giants in academia in addition to an insider’s look on how to win big at science competitions. And since the Academy is held over Zoom, students participate from the comfort of their own homes.

The mentors are enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge and believe that this is an excellent way to make the most of quarantine. Click here to see the flyer for more details and to register!

UPDATE YOUR VOLUNTEER CLEARANCE!

Plano ISD is excited to announce the launch of our new volunteer management system, VOLY, for the 2020-2021 school year. The new system is now live and can be accessed at pisd.edu/volunteer. While Plano ISD is not able to host volunteers onsite at this time, logging in now will allow you to get a head start on completing your volunteer application, online orientation and criminal history check. These three requirements must be completed annually to be eligible to volunteer in Plano ISD.

Volunteers will need to reapply in the new system prior to August 31 when their profile will be deactivated in the old system. We appreciate your patience during this transition as we work to improve your volunteer experience as a valued partner in student success.

WORLD WEAR PROJECT

Reflections is a National PTA sponsored arts recognition program that encourages artistic expression.

The Reflections theme for 2020-2021 is "I Matter Because." Use your imagination to create a film, song, artwork, photograph, poem, short story or dance routine. You may enter as many times as you like in as many categories as you like. Each entry must be accompanied by an official entry form. Be sure to reflect the theme in your work. There also is a special artist division option for students with disabilities to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate in the program.

Renner PTA needs you too!  A strong school starts with as many parents as possible signing up for PTA Membership.

Does a membership in the PTA require me to volunteer?
NO - there is no volunteer requirement.  If you wish to be involved, we have plenty of opportunities, but it is not a requirement of membership.

How much does a PTA membership cost?
It is $20 for a single parent family membership and $25 for a dual membership, which includes both parents.

What do I get for a PTA membership?
Several things. First, you will have access to our online directory through the membership toolkit app, which you can download right to your phone. Secondly, your dollars will go towards the various programs we provide for Renner, which directly or indirectly affect you and/or your child. At a higher level, your membership will be added to the others to provide a "voice" for every child in terms of supporting positive changes (laws, etc.) that will benefit every child.

How do I get a PTA Membership?
You can sign up at www.rennerpta.org. We would love for every family to be a PTA member at Renner!  PLEASE join us in having a voice for every child.
